We utilize the Workshop Model for reading instruction.
There are 5 parts to our Readers Workshop which will be posted here as our students are introduced to them.
Read to Self: This is the first step in the Daily 5 and the foundation of becoming a better reader. Students learn how to pick the best books for them to practice the strategies they have been learning to become proficient readers.

The FACE of our readers:
Read to Someone: "Reading with someone helps readers, especially developing readers, become more self-sufficient and less reliant on the teacher for assistance. Research shows that taking turns while reading increases reading involvement, attention, and collaboration." (The Daily 5™ p. 60)
Listen to Reading: Listening to a proficient reader is an important way to develop fluency while building vocabulary. Students listen to grade level stories from our textbook anthology as well as just right level books from RazKids. Check this site often for stories you can listen to at home!
Work on Writing: "The writing component of the Daily 5™ provides additional support children require to become effective writers. Its purpose is to provide daily writing practice." (The Daily 5™ p. 80)
